Different types of massage

We HELP YOU TRANSFORM YOUR LIFE BY CONQUERING PAIN AND IMPROVING OUR MOBILITY

Deep Tissue Massage

Deep tissue massage, a specialised form of remedial massage therapy, focuses on the deep layers of muscle and fascia within the body. This therapy emerged from the essential understanding of the human body's structure and the recognition of how firm pressure and targeted techniques can alleviate chronic muscle tension.

Myofascial Release

Myofascial release is a hands-on technique that targets pain right at its source. This innovative therapy can eliminate pain and restore motion by applying gentle, sustained pressure to your myofascial connective tissues. It isn't just a temporary solution. It's a long-term approach to managing and reducing chronic pain.

Remedial Massage

Remedial massage aims to treat pain and discomfort while restoring full function to muscles and soft tissues. It uses different techniques to find and fix damaged areas of the body, helping them heal faster. Massage techniques like Swedish massage can vary from

deep tissue massage to gentler pressure techniques.

Pregnancy Massage

Prenatal massage is a specialized therapy designed to ease physical discomfort and emotional stress during pregnancy.

Swedish Massage

Swedish massage uses long, gliding strokes to relax the entire body, ideal for beginners.

Lymphatic Drainage

Lymphatic Drainage Massage uses gentle, rhythmic techniques to stimulate and cleanse the lymphatic system.

Why Massage Therapy?

  • Pain and stress reduction: It triggers the relaxation response, thereby reducing stress hormones within the nervous system and promoting an overall sense of calm and tranquillity.

  • Reduce muscle and joint paint: By targeting specific parts of the body, massage helps alleviate muscle tension, reduces pain, and fosters quicker recovery from injuries.

  • Improved blood circulation: It enhances oxygen and nutrient delivery to tissues and organs by stimulating blood flow and helping with various health problems.

Enhanced flexibility and range of motion: It can improve joint mobility and increase flexibility and mobility of connective tissues.

Frequently Asked Questions

We’ve answered some of the most common questions to help you feel confident before booking.

Question 1: What should I expect from my first appointment?

At your first physiotherapy appointment, we take the time to understand your unique needs. Our sessions are longer than standard appointments because we believe in a thorough, individualised approach. Your session will begin with a detailed discussion about your current concerns, past injuries, and movement patterns. This verbal and physical assessment helps us identify the underlying causes of your issue, not just the symptoms. We focus on how your body moves, what areas may not be functioning optimally, and how these contribute to your pain or limitations. Using video feedback analysis of movement assessments, we pinpoint key areas that need attention. Our goal is to provide immediate improvements while also developing a long-term plan tailored to your needs. Treatment may involve hands-on techniques, dry needling, or targeted exercises to improve mobility and strength. You'll also receive a personalised exercise program to reinforce new movement patterns and support lasting recovery. Every person, injury, and journey is unique—our approach ensures you receive care that’s specific to you, helping you move better, feel stronger, and achieve your goals.

Question 2: How long is a session?

At Limitless Physiotherapy and Pilates, we offer a range of appointment lengths to ensure you receive the care and attention you need. Physiotherapy Appointments: Initial consultation: 60 minutes Standard follow-up: 30 minutes Extended follow-up: 45 minutes Pilates Appointments: Initial Pilates assessment: 60 minutes 1-on-1 Private Pilates session: 55 minutes 1-on-2 Duo Pilates session: 55 minutes Quattro Pilates (max 4 people): 55 minutes Each session is designed by Physiotherapists and is individualised, whether you're recovering from an injury, looking to improve movement, or strengthening your body through Pilates.

Question 3: What should I bring to my first appointment?

Just bring yourself! If you have any relevant documents, such as a doctor’s referral or imaging reports, feel free to bring them along. Wear comfortable clothing that allows you to move freely, as your session may involve physical assessments and exercises. If you’re using private health insurance, bring your card so we can process your rebate on the spot through our HICAPS terminal.

Question 4: Do I need a referral?

No, a referral is not required to see a physiotherapist. As primary healthcare practitioners, physiotherapists can assess and treat patients without a doctor's referral. They can also issue sick leave certificates if needed. However, a referral may be necessary in certain cases: Medicare (EPC/CDM Plans): If you are claiming through Medicare under an Enhanced Primary Care (EPC) or Chronic Disease Management (CDM) plan, a referral from your GP is required. Insurance Claims: If you are claiming treatment through an insurance company (such as WorkCover or TAC), it’s advisable to see your GP for a referral. This can help streamline your claim and reduce disputes. If you already have a claim number, please bring it along with your insurer written approval details to your first appointment.

Question 5: Am I covered by private health insurance?

Physiotherapy is covered by “Extras” cover. The level of cover on your policy varies greatly between clients.. As all insurance companies offer a variety of different options, we recommend that you confirm with your provider before attending your appointment.

Question 6: Do you accept Medicare referrals?

Yes, Limitless Physiotherapy and Pilates accepts Medicare under specific circumstance such as EPC or CDM. Medicare doesn't typically cover the entire cost of your session, but allows you to claim a rebate against the cost of your session. The rebate amount can vary between clients and can be affected by events such as hospital stays and medical procedures.
